neon
A neon signs is a brightly glowing electrified glass tube filled with a neon or argon blue gas.
Neon signs are a type of cold cathode light. Neolite make our neon with a sealed glass tube that is hand bent into shape by our glass benders. Electrodes are attached at each end and filled with either neon or argon gas mixture. The colour of the light is dependant on several factors, including the glass used, if the glass is clear or coated with a phosphorus coated or it’s a colour glass with a phosphor coating.
Using a neon transformer with thousands of volts excites attached to the electrodes this ionises the gas in the tube, causing it to produce the beautiful neon colours.
